Creating Segmentation in Websand

Using Segmentation

The segmentation function in Websand allows you to manage your audience into groups or cohorts.  Create segments based on their behaviour, spending, profile, marketing history or all of the above.

Best bit is you only need to create the segment once.  As behaviour changes your customers will move from one segment to the next, so as well as a great data management tool.  Segmentation is a great way of understanding the number of people at any point of your customer journey.

Segmentation types

The following types of segmentation are available for you to use within Websand.

Freestyle

Create any segment you like based on any data you decide to add into your Websand platform.

Source

Create segmentation based on where your audience originally signup.

Repeat

Create segmentation based on the number of purchases made by one of your customers

Retention

Create segmentation based on the time since the last purchase of one of your customers

Customer Lifetime Value

Create segmentation based on customer lifetime value level of your customers

Product

Group your customers based on the type of products they've bought

Marketing

Create segmentation based on how your audience has reacted to the marketing messages you've sent to them

Combined

Join existing segments together or remove segments from other segments.   Be careful, if you delete one of the 'child' segments you'll break the content of your combined segment.

Creating a Segment

Access the segmentation section of Websand by clicking the Segment icon from the menu.

You'll then enter the Segment screen which lists all of the segments you've created, and how many members of your audience are within each segment.

To create a new segment, select the  [+ New Segment] button in the top right corner, and then select the segment type you require.

Select your Segment

Select which Segment you wish to create from the dropdown list.

Press the ' Create Segment' button and you can start to configure your Segment.

We don't mean for this to a cliffhanger!  But this is an introduction to creating a segment.  For details on how to configure each of the segment options, please see the support document for the relevant segment in the  segmentation category
