Creating a sender address

Why do I need to create a Sender address?

You can't send any email without a send address.  

Eh?  Why do I have to do that.  Don't you send our email?

Yes, we do, but it's on your behalf.  So we need you to set up your sender address, and where you want replies to be re-directed.

And we recognise that you might need to send different email messages from different addresses so you can do that.  

Use the correct email address, be professional

You need to create a sender address to be able to send email marketing.  You can create as many as you need, but they need to be real email addresses, and don’t forget to include a reply to address.  

Please don't be offended, but we need you to be professional

Make sure you use a company email address - please don’t use a gmail, hotmail, aol style email address.  

Those emails are for personal mail not marketing email and it won’t work here.

Setting up your Send Identity

Select the 'Send Identities' from the menu.

Fill out the form.  

Please make sure you use a Company address for this, 'free email account' just won't do.  Here's why.

Hey presto you've now got a sender address and you can start sending email marketing!

It's recommended that you white-label your domain to make sure your online reputation is super strong and you've got the best possible chance to win the war of the inbox!

It's also worth noting this with your audience to avoid dropping into Spam filters

Some users with Hotmail/Outlook addresses often have issues with receiving emails due to them being blocked by spam filters. To resolve this you need advise them to set > YOUR BUSINESS < as a safe sender in your settings. 

To do this complete the following steps: (Formerly Hotmail)

  1. Open your Outlook mailbox.
  2. Select Options from the top right (next to the question mark).
  3. Select More options > Safe and blocked senders (under Preventing junk email) > Safe senders.
  4. In the space provided, enter the address -
  5. Select Add to list.
  6. Ensure the safe mailing lists box has the address you entered, and select OK.

That will add YOUR BUSINESS to their safe sender list.  Delivery is now assured.
